Boathouse Restaurant - White Rock

Went here with a large group of family for a wonderful sunny Sunday Brunch As always the location and view sell the place as a great go to event outing

Sad demise of what was a destination location in this picturesque town overlooking the ocean.

Just back from a holiday in White Rock, we visited the Boathouse twice, 9 of us the first time and just myself and the wife the second time, the staff were very efficient and friendly, the food was excellent and a good choice of drinks. Try the Crispy Coconut Shrimps they are delicious.Remember in Canada that the tax is added to the prices shown on the menu and a tip is expected. This is a place we would look forward to eating in again when we visit our family next time.

We went to the Boathouse rooftop patio for a birthday dinner. Great views, good service, lots of seafood options. My only complaint is that you can't get the same menu on rooftop as in dining room--and there a couple items I missed.

Was spending the day at the White Rock Sea Festival, when my kids said they were getting hungry. The Boathouse was one of the closest restaurants to us at the time, and we figured they would have kids menu, so that's where we went. I haven't been a Boathouse for over 10 years because my last visit was horrible. This visit went somewhat better than expected.We made a reservation on OpenTable. But when we arrived, there seemed to be multiple entrances for guests and learned that you need to go to the 2nd floor to check-in when using OpenTable. Once we got the 2nd floor, we were seated nearly the window which had a nice view.We ordered:- Mussel Steamer Pot - Good. No bad/closed musssels found. They were plump, and cooked properly, and the tomato bouillabase was nice. It was a good sized dish, but a little on the expensive side.- Sweet Chili Chicken - Good. Good taste, well prepared. Again, expensive for the quantity you get.- Kid's Chicken Strips and Fries - Good. Better quality "pre-frozen" type chicken strips and good quality fries. Small portion though.- Kid's Grilled Salmon with Rice - OK, but miniscule for what you pay.Kid's meals comes with an ice tea which was filled to the top with ice, so they might have had 4 sips worth of ice tea. The kids meals are intended for anyone under 10, but my kids are younger than that and finished with no problems. Anyone 9 or older would probably need to order a full sized meal.Service was average. Server forgot to give the kids their drinks until after their meals were served, but was alright otherwise.Location is very nice with view of the beach. Since we came in with low expectations, the food out turned out better than expected in terms of quality. But it's way overpriced for the portions you get. I think they have this issue because their pricing is fixed across all restaurant locations. The pricing might be the market price in Vancouver, but maybe not in White Rock. Overall, it was an OK visit. If in the area again, I would consider coming back, but would look to other restaurants in the area first.
