Wimpy's Diner - Whitby

Went to Wimpy's and never had such poor service. The place was almost empty and felt like we were bothering the waitress, for some reason she felt it necessary to tell us she owns it, but the service did not reflect that. The bacon tasted like it had been sitting around since the previous day, eggs were cold. Maybe it is time to retire

In contrast to others, I found the restaurant and washrooms to be very clean. The meal I had, a chicken wrap, was delicious and a generous portion. The waitress was keen to serve us, and perhaps a little too present, but not rude. She offered refills on soda - all in all totally decent service.

My family and I went in for dinner around 6:30, as my in-laws are non english speakers it takes a bit longer to order as my wife has to explain different dishes to them. What I found really rude was the waitress (I'm guessing the manager from reading other reviews) came back after about 10 minutes and asked us to hurry up as they close at 8:00 and wanted to get the food cooking asap so they could start shutting down the kitchen. I could understand if it was 7:30, but rushing us along with over an hour and a half before you close? Right away I wont be coming back if that is how your treat the people who are paying to eat here.Food was mediocre. Kids had hot dog and pasta, both were ok but bland. The classic burger was the best item. My open face hot beef sandwich was clearly boil in a bag meat. The special was pork loin roast and was dry and tasteless and came with nothing to accompany the meat like a cranberry sauce or something, we ended up ordering a side of gravy to go with it, but really didnt help much. The fried liver was ok, not great, not bad, just ok. Possibly we just tried to be too fancy with our orders, its a greasy spoon, probably best to stick to the burgers and all day breakfast. Still, lousy service and mediocre food. Certainly not the place I remember stopping in for a quick lunch a bunch of times a few years ago.

We have tried Wimpy's a few times, and every time it has smelled like bleach. Pretty off-putting when you're trying to eat. The last time we were there, the service was not good. Our server messed up all four orders, and the food ( breakfast, which should be pretty quick) took way too long to arrive. This location seems to be riding on the chain's name.

In the past I've had decent service at Wimpy's in spite of their price point, but on the weekend of March 12, I decided to take my son downtown for a breakfast. Our usual place was closed for renovations so we went across to Wimpy's. The place was surprisingly full and we grabbed a couple of seats at the counter. From what I could see there were only 2 servers and one person working the grill.The older of the two servers said she would be right with us, but never was. Not even coffee. I actually wound up taking my son out and going elsewhere. Trying to explain to a 7 y/o why you're leaving a restaurant where you've been waiting isn't the easiest task. Pretty sure we won't be back.
