We love this place. Food is great. Staff are professional and friendly.
Four of us had dinner at the (new) Dogwood in Arnold. The food and service were excellent. The server knew the menu well and made great suggestions. We tried many things as this was our first time at the newly re opened restaurant. We shared Arancini and the Steam Pot for appetizers, both very good, flavorful. Four steaks for the table, two rib eyes with demi glaze and two filets with herbed butter (you get a choice of sauces, sides like caramalized onions are offered too). There was a dessert special chocolate cake with whipped peanut butter frosting, amazing! Absolutely get this if it's on the menu. A great experience overall, we will definitely be back.
This place re-opened just 3 weeks ago after the death of the original chef/owner. The food is really delicious and the new chef has come up with some innovative menu choices. We sat outside on the heated terrace, had super service from Heather, drank wonderful Zinfandel and generally had a great time. It was such a surprise to find this restaurant in what we assumed would be a sleepy town. We absolutely recommend it.
New owners this year. Decent restaurant, a better replacement from the original from ~9 years ago when the menu was mostly grilled meat dishes. More varieties in the menu as not all of us are meat lovers. I think the last owner changed the menu to be more varied but we didn't try since our last visits about 9 years ago. This review is for the new establishment. We ordered 4 mains (seafood pasta, lamb shank, rib eye, and duck breast), crab dip appetizer and salad.Crab dip is good to share for 4. All mains except the duck breast are good. Duck is overcooked and under sauced IMO. More on this.Duck IMO should be cooked like a red meat steak and not like a chicken where more cooking is needed to kill all the bad stuffs from chicken farming practice in this country. The duck I had was cooked more like a chicken: well done. Color is like that of chicken dark meat. Good, but could be better as the meat is dry and tough just like a well done steak (which some of you preferred so highly subjective review here). I was expecting medium rare and lathered with a sweet/savory sauce which might be there but too little to notice with my dish. Portion is on the small side, about 6 ounces in my estimation so be prepared to dip into your companions dishes assuming they don't all order duck.High marks for the free bread as this is a reliable indicator of how a serious the chef is to good food. The bread was warm and fresh, and the olive oil/balsamic vinegar is of good quality done with a glazed (more gooey) balsamic. 5 stars here. Will come back for sure. Hopefully the chef will do something about the duck breast
