Bob Chinn's Crab House - Wheeling

The steak sandwich is fantastic, and the clam chowder is among the best in the area. I dined in for lunch and rated the food, service, and atmosphere all as 5 out of 5. I highly recommend the New England clams chowder, filet mignon, fried shrimp, garlic rolls, king crab claws, garlic butter rolls, surf and turf, fried calamari, and crab claws.

Unfortunately, this will be our final visit to Chins. We went last Saturday and while I have to commend our waiter for providing excellent service, the restaurant was severely understaffed, and it was nearly impossible for us to get follow-up visits at our table. I made the mistake of trying the king crab pasta special. The pasta was clearly from a box, the vegetables were hardly cooked, and the crab was practically nonexistent. The sauce was watery, making it seem like the pasta was just tossed into it right after draining, and it was lukewarm, topped with pre-packaged Sisco parmesan cheese. I felt completely ripped off for the $40 charge. To add insult to injury, our server cracked the king crab for our $120 entrée but left the knuckles behind, which are one of our favorite parts. This unfortunately isn’t our first disappointing experience here. Given the high prices, this restaurant no longer seems worth the money. The place is dirty, and the cheap beach decor looks the same as it did when we started visiting in the 90s, clearly in need of a thorough cleaning.

I recently dined at Bob Chinn's restaurant and I have to say, the seafood was absolutely amazing. The snow crab legs were definitely the highlight of the meal. Every bite was incredibly flavorful. I highly recommend Bob Chinn's for anyone who loves seafood. It's definitely worth a visit for the delicious dishes and friendly service. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I have been once or twice at this place and it’s never left me amazed by its service. It is a great place for seafood lovers. The options are great. My vegetarian friends if they end up being here with the seafood lovers for a get together or something you will have options and yes not the regular salad but good options like pasta. I would definitely recommend this place for sea food lovers. Vegetarian options: Although this restaurant is mostly famous for sea food, there are still option for vegetarian wherein the meat will be replaced with veggies and they will also make sure to use veggie base in case the original base had meat base.
