Wow, what a breath of fresh air this place is for Wharton TX, where dining choices are very limited, and are somewhat mediocre and redundant : BBQ or Mexican. Farm to table vegetables and local meats are served at the Provisions. As of now, they are only open for lunch take-out orders, and it is a limited menu. Today's Lunch Menu has 4 items out of which I picked two: BBQ Flat Bread, which was full of flavor, but was smaller than what I expected. Disappointed because for a price of almost $9 incl tax. Spinach Salad with shaved radishes, pickled onion, shaved apples, pecans and goat cheese was great. Spinach was perfectly fresh and juicy, and so was the rest. I enjoyed it a lot. I am looking forward to their grand opening and trying out items from their full menu.
We were the first customers at 10:40 in Tuesday Jan 30. We ordered at the register from the menu on the wall. Not a wide selection but all interesting choices with a unique twist. We ordered the boiled egg trio, all three were flavorful. My wife ordered a Reuben panini and I chose the chicken panini. Both were excellent and the sides of fries or chips were both tasty. No sodas, only water or iced tea.
Wow! Am I really in Wharton? Looks like a bistro in LA! It's very cute inside, the decor is all farmhouse. The food has been delicious each time I have come here. I've only been here for lunch, I'm waiting to try their dinner. I swear I could eat here everyday! I have had their salads, soups and sandwiches and all of them have been out of this world delicious!!!As of right now, the only days dinner is served is on Fridays and Saturdays, my only negative would be I would love to see them open for dinner each night.
My coworkers and I visited this restaurant for lunch while we were in the area for work, and we were pleasantly surprised! The location is situated in downtown, and it has a charming, cozy atmosphere. The menu was quite limited, but I’m not sure if that’s typical or due to the restrictions during the COVID pandemic. There were effectively just a couple of sandwich options, a soup, and two salads to choose from. The prices were very reasonable! I ordered a cup of corn chowder and the pulled pork sandwich, which came with kettle chips. The food was delicious, fresh, and healthy. Both the chips and bread were freshly made. The portions were generous, and I took home half of my meal in a to-go bag. One of my coworkers tried a slice of the freshly made carrot cake, which we all shared, and it was fantastic—not too sweet. The owner, who is French, was attentive but a bit off-putting. I mention this because I read a previous review that specifically noted this aspect. Personally, I found him to be quite entertaining.
