Tonkotsu Ramen - West Valley City

I visited the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Although there was no parking available in the lot, the restaurant only had two tables occupied, so seating our party of two was not an issue. The service was excellent and very efficient. We started with gyoza as an appetizer, which was delicious, but we only received five dumplings when six is the norm at other places. Unfortunately, the rest of the food was a big disappointment. The pork and miso broths were so bland that it was hard to tell them apart. The meat in the signature ramen bowl was excessively fatty, making it unappetizing. The toppings on the Vegetable Miso Ramen seemed to have come straight from the fridge—cold tofu is just not appealing. As others have mentioned, the ambiance doesn’t evoke a Japanese feel at all. While the space was clean, the tables felt bare, there was no art on the walls, and American pop music played in the background. Overall, we were very disappointed with the food and will be adding this place to our "won't revisit" list. There are plenty of other spots to get a fantastic lunch for $50. It’s a shame, as I had high hopes for this place.

I stopped by this restaurant on my way to the airport and ordered the wing appetizer and the house specialty ramen. The wings had a decent flavor, but unfortunately, they were cold on the inside. I assume they are pre-cooked and then flash-fried when served, but whatever the case, the chicken was cooked but cold inside. The ramen, on the other hand, was quite good. The service was quick, but it struck me as strange that we were the only customers there at noon. Just as we were about to leave, a couple of other people arrived.

During my first visit, I ordered the Tantanmen, and it was just okay. This time, I went for the Curry Ramen, but I found it disappointing. It had more of a gravy-like consistency than a broth, and the flavor was just strange. The few vegetables in the dish were served cold, almost as if they had come straight from the fridge. The highlight of the meal was the veggie egg rolls, but they were quite mushy inside. Overall, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. The staff were very friendly, and I feel bad for them, but I would suggest trying a different place instead.

Excellent service and delicious food! The waitress is always incredibly friendly and attentive. I love visiting with family and friends.

The tonkatsu ramen was delicious, and the appetizer fries were amazing! I really enjoyed the service and everything about my experience.
