El Topo - West University Place

Another hidden gem! Chef Adrian has crafted an incredible menu that keeps you coming back for more. The staff greets you with warmth, the wine selection is fantastic, and of course, the food is outstanding!

I went to El Topo last Friday to meet some friends, and it was our first time there. It was fantastic! I arrived a bit early and was warmly welcomed by Blair, who took excellent care of me with a fantastic glass of bubbly. He served us the whole night. Our group of five guys can be tough to impress, but everyone was truly amazed by the food. The handmade dishes, the drinks Blair recommended, and the exceptional bottles of wine were all outstanding. It felt great to be treated like a regular at a neighborhood spot, even as first-timers. Just a heads up, this isn’t your typical Mexican restaurant that you find all over Houston. If you’re looking for a wonderful atmosphere—whether indoors or outside—and an intriguing menu with unique options, along with excellent service where the owner is actively involved throughout the evening, make sure to grab a reservation and head over to El Topo!

There is so much consideration put into sourcing, preparation, and flavor development; each bite was a unique experience. I was also very impressed with the wine list. Just a heads up: they don't serve liquor; the cocktails they offer are wine-based. If you're a fan of stronger, boozy cocktails, you might want to skip those, but who doesn't enjoy a good Bellini? This place has been on my list for over a year, and I'm so glad to have discovered my new favorite spot in Houston!

Came here for a tasting collective event. Omg the best barbacoa I've ever had and the homemade corn tortillas put it over the top!

Great food! Easy quiet vibe. Was a random find and so happy to have found it. This place is across from a school so no Margaritas on the menu as no full liquor license... but otherwise it's a top choice for delicious Mexican food.
