Izumi Sushi - West Lake Hills

The most less than mediocre sushi I have ever gotten. I got the sushi sashimi lunch special to go and H‑E‑B sushi would have been better than this. For cheaper too. Everything was pretty bland and the sashimi had a really fishy taste to it, not fresh at all. Not a big fan.

Bento box is the way to go! The mio sake is going to be your favorite sake once you order it. There is an intimate casual setting with the outdoor seating and heat lamps, the inside is very nice as well. Great for date night or afternoon lunch.

I only come here because it's so close to my office. The lunch specials like the bento box are solid but it always takes so long to get your food here. I only have about an hour for lunch and eating at Izumi is always cutting it close. TacoDeli next doors is never an issue. The food itself is ok Korean/Japanese fusion. Sometimes it's a little too salty for me but it's still better than my company's cafeteria food.

They publish their hours as open for lunch till 2:30pm. I came in at 2:17pm and was told they were closed for dine in. I asked what time do they close and she, the hostess, told me 2:30pm. I ask her to tell me the current time and she replied 2:20pm. There were 4 sushi chefs standing behind the sushi bar. Why publish 2:30pm if you have no intention of serving customers till 2:30pm? She, the hostess, told me it was not her decision. Apparently, Izumi does not need the revenue and cares less about customers.

Good food and service. I usually get the chirage bowl and miso soup. It's never disappointed me.
