China 1 - West Lafayette

This charming little spot serves up authentic Chinese cuisine. While the atmosphere is quite basic and the place has a somewhat unkempt appearance, the food and service more than make up for it. As a fan of heat, I ordered the Spicy Pot at the highest level of spiciness, and while I found it to be just right—perhaps even a bit milder than expected—the added paprika and sauce really enhanced the flavor compared to the non-spicy version. The ingredients were wonderfully prepared and diverse, and the portion size of the Spicy Pot is ample enough for two people. I will definitely return to explore more of their menu. I also sampled several American dishes, and they were absolutely delicious.

The food is excellent and the portion sizes are huge. I've been coming here since I arrived at Purdue, and it has always been a great experience.
