This restaurant served the worst food I have had in a long time...
- Why Not? Restaurant has a clean and well-furnished atmosphere. While the service was lacking, it was satisfactory for a good Chinese meal. The restaurant was not very crowded during lunchtime, but once I was able to place my order, the food arrived quickly. The presentation and taste of the meal were good, but unfortunately, the dishes were only warm. It was disappointing to find that the chili beef and satay chicken with vegetables were not served hot, despite being freshly cooked. The waitress offered to reheat the dishes, but I declined. Overall, Why Not? Restaurant is a decent option for a inexpensive Chinese meal for lunch, but the temperature of the food was a letdown for me.
We stayed at the hotel for a bistromal period and went back to China. It wasn't too busy when we ordered the main menu. It was said that certain things were not available at noon. We ordered Entree Mains and fried rice. After 45 minutes it went to get my money back and was canceled. Our meals were not made because she was too busy cooking $10 lunch specialties. I said here, she should not have a complete menu available if she was unable to use it. The hotel is great, good beer and so clean, but this restaurant lets them down. We left hunger, but within half an hour we had a nice meal near cafe.
Was recommended this by a local, so decided to give it a try. It is at the back of the Great Northern Hotel through the bar. The lady serving was abrupt, but as I have lived in Hong Kong, and know how they operate, I...would expect no less. We were a little late, and she basically told us to hurry up and order as they were closing soon. We ordered, and after a little use of Cantonese, she loosened up a little, but still there was no great service. Fortunately, the food, and the generosity of the servings makes up for the service (or lack thereof), as the dishes were very tasty, well presented, and plentiful. If I was back in Kempsey, I wouldn't hesitate returning-for the food, but wouldn't rush to book it for a special occasion due to the service. Great Chinese food, with typical, seemingly disinterested Chinese service.
