Daiko Japanese Restaurant Jerry-san's Sushi Bar

This restaurant has truly come back to its former glory, and it’s exactly why I started dining here in the first place. The staff is always incredibly kind and friendly, whether you’re dining in or calling to place a takeout order. They genuinely are some of the nicest people you’ll meet. The establishment itself is consistently clean, which adds to the overall pleasant experience. One downside I've heard from many is that the restaurant doesn’t have the most appealing exterior, but that's perfectly fine — they’re missing out on some exceptional food. Even my close friends have shared that sentiment. After I’ve been raving about this place for a couple of years, they finally stopped by a few weeks ago after shopping at the local flea market. Now they’re hooked and amazed by the quality and taste of the food! I've also been visiting more often lately, as evidenced by my three visits just this past week. Another fellow yelper from Newtown also remarked on the appearance of the outside, but again, that's not a concern for me. If an attractive exterior is a high priority for you, you might want to look elsewhere. However, when I dine out, I prioritize quality and flavor, which is what this restaurant delivers. Every sushi dish here is bursting with flavor. One bite and you’ll understand why so many of us keep coming back. This place is definitely a must-try; you won’t be disappointed. They offer regular seating as well as a sushi bar where you can watch the sushi master at work, which is a treat in itself. The prices are reasonable, and there’s plenty of parking available, making it easy to get in and out of the lot and back onto Route 34.

I had a pleasant dining experience, but the food truly impressed me! I ordered two salmon rolls, and they were quite filling. I was surprised because I usually feel the urge to order another roll, but these were just the right portion. While I wouldn’t describe this place as cheap, the prices are reasonable and in line with what you’d expect from a sushi restaurant. The fish was fresh, and I honestly have no complaints. I would definitely return!

The service was exceptional. We were greeted with hot towels to clean our hands, a nice and authentic touch to start the meal. Our orders were brought out at a good pace, with just the right amount of check-ins from our server without being intrusive. At our table, we tried the beef, shrimp, and chicken teriyaki entrees, along with a few sushi rolls. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the entrees. The steamed vegetables were a bit too raw for my liking, and while the teriyaki sauce was flavorful, the meats were underseasoned and lacked excitement. Additionally, the portion sizes varied between dishes (as seen in the pictures), despite the beef and shrimp dishes being priced the same. Overall, I wouldn’t choose any of these entrees again. On a positive note, the sushi was quite delightful! I ordered the spicy tuna topped with salmon, which was fresh and delicious, and I also tried a shrimp and onion roll that was unique. I wish I had ordered more rolls! While I probably won’t be exploring the entrees at Daiko any further, I will definitely return for the sushi and the inviting ambiance!

Cozy, great regular specials (spicy kani salad! , good sake selection. Their jumbo rolls are to die for. They don't skimp on the tobiko/caviar.

Started off with shrimp shumai as appetizer and it is pretty standard. Moved onto the special rolls and was amazed with the quality of the wasabi and ginger on the side. Rubbing my hands and ready to dive into the rolls. Fried oyster roll what was that again? Ying&Yang roll salty Dragon roll First bite: did we get the wrong order? Let me further inspect it... I spy a booger sized eel in the corner proving its dignity, (see pics), yes it is indeed a dragon roll, today I learnt to never judge a roll by its first appearance and happy new year to you all. But giving benefit of doubt Perhaps we came at closing hour and they don't have much to offer. Side note: didn't dine in but the interior is very cute, also the restaurant is surrounded in a sea of dealership car park which is pretty romantic.
