My partner and I went to a walk and ended accidentally in thorncombe, after a wrong curve! tired and hungry we were grateful to find this place and enjoyed a warm welcome from the volunteer workers who work there. we enjoyed fabulous coffee and cake and we bought a few local ale from the shop. we have decided that a taxi would be the best way to get back to the base, but there was no available so that the staff friendlyly offered us a lift back to our base, which we accepted gratefully. many thanks to phil and viv and to the third voluntary, whose name we do not catch, but who makes an excellent coffee.
We were directed into the local business when we were cycling, looking for coffee and cake somewhere. the original place we tried would not serve us as a frightening of the frightening we wore lycra! but the guy who delivered this message (company policy.) told us to try the Thorncombe Village. we were so glad that we did it when we arrived, a bit hot and harassed after another rise, we were treated like old friends and received the most wonderful service. beautiful coffee, beautiful cake, great village atmosphere and a good wine selection to boot. I go back to a few days to try their lunch menu.
This volunteer shop and caffe is the beating heart of this beautiful village. for a small load it is remarkably well equipped and the team is as friendly as possible. when they are through thorncombe, stop them by and take a coffee or a few delicious.
This village shop is excellent, with a wide variety of products and a friendly atmosphere. They have a great selection of wine and beer, as well as local cheese, eggs, and bread, along with essential items. The shop also has a cafe that is perfect for walkers and cyclists, and a post office that is open two mornings a week. This volunteer-run enterprise is a valuable asset to the village and a charming place to stop by.
