Hy-vee Wine Spirits - West Des Moines

While I understand the importance of preventing crime, considering how rarely I visit this old establishment, I think the level of security felt excessive, especially since both interruptions were related to register issues. In my opinion, Hy-Vee should face scrutiny for the high prices they charge for their subpar baked goods. The cookies are so hard that they could be used as tools for prisoners trying to escape! I wouldn't recommend sending Hy-Vee baked items to prisons; they might give inmates ideas! I hope we get a better competitor, like Harris Teeter or Publix, to rival these guys. It seems like a lot of the eateries that used to be Hy-Vee Market Grills have transitioned to Whalburgers because Hy-Vee can't seem to cook decent food. This has been a significant disappointment, especially since I've found Whalburgers in other states to be far superior to those run by Hy-Vee. It's time they consider bringing in a CEO from another food chain!

Be cautious with the prices at the meat counters as of March 2022. The price displayed on the shelf was lower than what was advertised, and the staff refused to honor the lower shelf price.

Place is always clean and we'll stocked and easy to find

This experience has left me unwilling to use the self-checkout again. It’s frustrating to have to do the work myself when there are plenty of employees available in the store. I believe that the store should hire individuals who possess self-respect and treat customers with respect as well. Blood in a grocery store poses a biohazard, and employees should be trained to manage such serious situations appropriately.

Needed to mail a package at the service counter. A more appropriate name is DIS service counter. One person taking care of several customers in line and one develops a problem. That only person has to stop everything and make the rest of us stand around waiting for them to solve the first customers problem. Okay, they have an issue that's in need of attention. The store is busy so where are the others that could provide customer service. There are none because HyVee apparently doesn't care to provide good customer service. This has been a constant problem at this store and no one cares. With such high grocery prices seems like more employees could provide service counter service.
