Dolcetti - West Banks

Cakes here are outstanding. Cannoli with ricotta has perfect pastry and a creamy, slightly cinnamon filling. The strawberry tart was deliciously tart and our savoury pastry wIth pumpkin was simple but lovely. Beautiful little cake shop with authentic Sicilian sweets and kind service.

This tiny cake shop makes some of the very best cakes in Melbourne..possibly Australia!Made with love and excellent ingredients, not sickly sweet like some place. They only have a hand full of tables so not great for large groups. Mostly sweet cakes and pastries but occasionally savoury tarts as well.

Maria make semi-hard nougats that are not overly sticky. Generous with the amount of nuts they put in the nougats. Cut into small cubes these nougats are true treat. My favourite is the classic chocolate hazelnut but do try their Italian cookies too, the pistachio amaretti with cherry on top is great. I believe you can find their treats in many of the food cafes in Melbourne nowadays.

We stumbled upon Dolcetti when visiting the Queen Victoria Markets on our recent visit to Melbourne. Dolcetti restores your faith in the art, beauty and passion of food. Everything is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. Beautiful handmade Italian Pasticceria expertly made and at reasonable price. We will be back for coffee and moreof their delightful little cakes just as soon as we return to Melbourne.

The cakes in this little place are to die for the best Italian Pasticceria outside Italy. Great Coffee as well, so be prepared to pay for perfection and don't worry about the calories
