Shilimar Indian Restaurant - Wembley

I may have just had the best curry of my life so far. I was going to call them, but then I thought I really should make my point public. Get on board.

The restaurant is nothing fancy (certainly not beyond the main seating area, but the food and service are great and popular. My favorites are the Vindaloo and the Chicken Tikka starter. Very happy that this is our local.

We got takeaway from here. Ordered Onion Bhajis, Butter Chicken - normal and spicy, Dal and Biryani. The butter chicken was tasty and was made to order and have to admit the attention to detail was amazing considering the specifications to make butter chicken and the biryani was quite yummy. The food was fantastic. Great service, good size portions and very good food!

Three of us arrived without a reservation and the restaurant was full. There was a reserved table awaiting some guests who had reserved the table in 75 minutes. We were offered the table subject to us vacating it at the required time. We accepted and were treated very well as the staff were aware that we had this limitation imposed on us. The service was prompt and without fault. The food was excellent and enjoyed by us all. We had various dishes including fish, lamb, vegetables, rice and garlic nahn bread. Corkage for a beer and 2 bottles of wine was only $2. Brilliant. No complaints. Friendly, kindly service all round. The restaurant was noisy without sound absorbing curtains, plants and the like but that was the only negative point.

Tandoori chicken met expectations and the lamb vindaloo was fabulous - hot and spicy. Portions are very generous. Service was good. The restaurant can get very noisy if crowded. We will be back again for sure.
