Contribuiți la feedbackThis lovely cafe has outdoor seating where you can bask in the sun. However, they only offer two vegan options on the menu and they do not allow ingredient swaps (e.g. eggs for mushrooms) without an additional charge. The staff is friendly, but it seems like the chefs are not very accommodating. It is worth noting that they used to have a wider variety of vegan options available.
This café in Wellington has had a strong reputation for many years. However, when I joined five non-vegan friends for lunch today, I was disappointed to find that there was only one vegan main dish option available, with the second option being a mistake. The vegan adaptation of the rice dish I ordered was expensive and uninspiring, so I opted to just have coffee and lunch elsewhere. It was disappointing that there were no vegan cabinet options and the staff seemed uninterested in catering to my dietary needs. In a time when many restaurants are offering creative vegan menu options, Nikau still has some catching up to do. I would recommend exploring other vegan-friendly restaurants until Nikau improves their offerings for vegans.
This café in Wellington has had a good reputation for many years. When I went to lunch with five friends tonight, I decided to join them. I was informed that there were two vegan main dish options, but in reality there was only one. The waiter mentioned that the second option could potentially be made vegan, but it turned out to be a mistake. I ended up ordering a vegan rice bowl with mushrooms instead of smoked fish, but I found it to be quite expensive and not very satisfying. There were no vegan options in the cabinet food selection, and it seemed like the staff were not knowledgeable or interested in accommodating my dietary needs. I ultimately ended up just having a coffee and going elsewhere for lunch while my friends finished eating. This was incredibly disappointing, especially at a time when many restaurants are offering creative and varied vegan options on their menus. I would recommend that Nikau Restaurant consider expanding their vegan options to cater to this growing demand. I am confident that many vegans would be pleased to try their dishes if they were more accommodating.
This pleasant cafe is perfect for soaking up the sun. However, there are only two vegan options on the menu and substitutions are not allowed (e.g. swapping eggs for mushrooms). Additional ingredients come at an extra cost. The staff is friendly, but it seems that the chefs are not very accommodating. It is worth noting that they used to offer a wider variety of vegan options in the past.
I visited this restaurant around noon on a Sunday and it was very busy, with many people having reserved tables. The interior was lovely, with the sun shining in. The prices for the food were quite high, for example $7 for a regular chocolate chip muffin (similar in size to a pack of six for $6 at the supermarket). The cheese scone was also disappointing, lacking in flavor. The restaurant does serve supreme coffee, which was enjoyable. Our waitress provided great service, delivering everything quickly and being very friendly. Overall, the service and atmosphere were great, but the food was not very affordable and lacked in taste.
