Little Penang On The Terrace

I went for dinner and tried the vegetarian menu, and it was fantastic! The fried tofu and vegetables were incredible, with generous portions that easily fed a group of six. The quality-to-price ratio is excellent, as it's budget-friendly without compromising on taste. Although the place was quite busy, our meals were served quickly. The staff was friendly and even took some time to chat with us.

The food and service here are excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. I definitely recommend this place!

I tried calling ahead for a reservation, but was told they don’t take reservations. When we arrived, the place was bustling with a diverse crowd, which made me think that it must have good food to draw in so many patrons. Unfortunately, we struggled to find space for our group of six, so I went to speak with the person who had assured me that reservations weren't necessary. The restaurant operates with an open kitchen concept, and you order at the counter for quick service. It was noisy but lively, and we were prepared for minimal service. Everything on the menu looked amazing, featuring many of my favorite dishes from Penang. Unfortunately, some specialties like Hainanese chicken rice, bak kut teh, Assam laksa, and Hokkien mee were only available on specific days. Nonetheless, there were plenty of delicious options that were sure to satisfy our group. Here’s what we ordered: three different types of nasi lemak, char kway teow, Hokkien char, otak otak, lor bah, clay pot rice, char siew bun, and lemon chicken wings. The nasi lemak was fantastic, especially the Kapitan chicken, Nyonya chicken, and masak merah chicken, with the masak merah being a favorite for my daughter and me. The chicken drumstick soaked in spicy sweet chili was delicious! The other two curries were great as well, although the meat was a bit tough, yet still edible. The otak otak didn’t quite meet expectations, as the fish meat inside was overly firm. The clay pot rice could have been better; it was too wet, and the sauce didn't taste like the authentic Malaysian sweet soy sauce I was hoping for. The real highlights of our brunch were the char kway teow and Hokkien char—truly authentic Penang style, which I found incredibly satisfying! The crispy elements in the stir-fried noodles were essential, and I could tell that the chef had great skill, as I could taste the sweet aroma and the fragrance of the wok. I was a bit let down by the lor bah because it wasn't very fresh. However, when I mentioned this to the manager, she kindly offered a replacement, but I decided not to pursue it. I simply hope that the restaurant continues to excel and maintains the authenticity of Penang's cuisine. Would I return, despite my mixed experience? Absolutely!

That was my first time to eat malaysias, and wow, what an experience. the atmosphere in the restaurant was very lively, the staff was efficient and friendly and very professional and that is all before we ordered food! I first ordered a few drinks, I had a salted lychee soda and my family had the milo dinosaur the drinks came very fast and were delicious! we then ordered some food, first some lemon chicken wings and nyonya platter escape. these were both well cooked, the chicken wings are tender and juicy, and the lemon sauce was a perfect compliment. then I ordered the char koay teow with chicken. wow it was amazing that the noodles were boiled to perfection, a little firm, but hot and tasty. my family ordered the nasi goreng rice and they left nothing on their teller, which meant that everything was good. if they are looking for a delicious, healthy option, this is the place for them. If they have never tried Malaysian eating, I recommend trying it here!

A nice place for good food. They serve good quantity so it's quiet filling. Usually a very busy place. Long queue to order food. And a big wait to follow. But the food was good. Staff are quiet nice. So I would be going there again. Definitely recommend it if you want to eat Malaysian and you are near Terrace. I wish they had a way to order food ahead of time. So that I do not have to wait...
