Contribuiți la feedbackI had to discard my meal. The crispy seaweed was not fresh, the mixed vegetable fried rice had a stale taste, and the sweet and sour mixed vegetables were not appetizing. This restaurant is usually good, but I will be hesitant to order from here again.
We had a fantastic meal at a reasonable price, served promptly, and chosen from a diverse menu with something for everyone!
PROS: 1) WALKING DISTANCE FOR ME 2) RANGE/CHOICE 3) RELATIVELY INEXPENSIVE 4) FREE SPRING ROLLS AND CRACKERS CONS: 1) UNABLE TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS 2) NO CARD READER IN SHOP- CASH ONLY OR ONLINE 3) EXTRA CHARGES ADDED FOR ONLINE ORDERS 4) CHEAPER INGREDIENTS IN ABUNDANCE, MEAT NOT SO. I really wanted to like (and support) my local Chinese takeaway. Firstly, since it’s only 5 minutes walk from me, secondly, because I do get lazy (in terms of cooking). I have used Yong Sheng twice, and twice I have been happy with the taste, just not some of the details. The first detail is, their ribs are dried out, obviously from reheating. Of course every takeaway finds efficiencies, but in 50 years plus of eating Chinese food, I have never ever had a dried out rib anywhere! I have lived all over the World, and all over the UK. Yet Yong Sheng’s ribs are the worst ever. On my second trip (and last ever) I explained how the first trip was disappointing because of dried out, reheated ribs. I asked that mine were not dried out that time. When I got home, the ends of them were. On reflection, it was a better attempt than the first time, when several were completely dried out. That batch visited the bin. The food is very tasty, but the issue is, as with many retailers, corners are being cut. This final visit I had a beef curry. It was populated with large chunks of mushrooms, and strangely, two slices of carrot, and the ubiquitous onion. I like the onions in a Chinese curry, but when I order a beef curry, I expect that to be the main ingredient. Apparently not, at Yong Sheng. You cannot pay by card reader, you have to pay online in a third party app. You are charged 10p bagging fee (never had that at a takeaway) and 50p service fee. You are then asked if you want to tip the staff too! What is the service fee for and when does a takeaway charge a service fee? Next it’ll be a parking fee and then a heating up fee… They are very nice people, and I don’t doubt that it’s a management decision to increase the cheaper ingredients and reduce the expensive ones. However, put the price up and maintain the quality. I didn’t write this review after the first visit with the awful ribs. I gave you a second chance. There was no apology, no offer of a discount and what us worse, the same awful ribs. No-one in this current economic depression can afford dissatisfied customers. Dissatisfied customers tell on average, 13 other people. Satisfied ones only 3. Now with social media, I have just informed everyone who I uses trip advisor searching for Chinese in Wellingborough, not to takeaway, but to stay away!
Not only have they delivered to Isham more than once!!..the quality of food and service is excellent. Highly recommend
Our usual takeaway was closed so we ordered from here instead, and will probably stay with them now! The food arrived quickly and was of a high quality, very generous portions plus some free extras which went down well. Good value for money too, would certainly order again
