Contribuiți la feedbackIf you want authentic Cajun and Southern comfort food, this is the place to go. Personally I love the Etouffee, chicken roast steak, meat cake, Johnny's Yardbird and the Cajun Classic Burger. The owner checks on each table as if you were part of his family. Food is cheap, made with the right spices and served with a smile.
We were looking forward to trying Cafe Johnny. We hoped for a good restaurant near home and went to lunch. Unfortunately, my etoufee did not taste like flour in Roux. My husband had the chicken Ragu, essentially chicken in a tomato sauce over rice. The bread was average. I'm sorry to say that, but the food wasn't very good. Too much salt, pasty taste. You have a nice staff, good service, beautiful atmosphere (that was worth a star) and a good beer selection. You could add a Sauvignon blanc and a Pinot Noir to the wine list to balance it. I know how difficult it is to open a restaurant, but you need the items on the menu well in a high competitive area. The lunches were very small for the price. I would not recommend
Love this place! Very cozy! Staff and owners are super friendly. A little home! Food was great!
If you want real Cajun food, don't come here. I was raised in South Louisiana and you definitely don't sergeant Jambalaya over rice. They cook the rice and ingredients together. It was tomato sauce over rice. Don't ask me what chicken and sausage Ragu is... it's a secret.
Right off, the dining area is small but clean with plenty of tables. Tasteful Southern decor. There are several TVs around for you sporty folk. The hostess gave off the new-to-food service vibe, which is fine. I went alone during peak time, Saturday 7pm. My waitress was kind and attentive. The menu is small with all the Southern and Cajun staples which is probably a good idea for a new restaurant). I was 1 of 4 tables dining-in at the time with the manager making rounds with the patrons. Maybe it was Johnny , who knows because he never introduced himself to me. He was, however, very friendly with the 3 OTHER tables. I was anticipating at least a hello but it never happened. Perhaps it was for the better; he and the people closest to me were talking politics a topic of conversation that makes me gag nowadays). What will I have to drink? Water with lemon, please. What? No more lemons? Ok, just the water Got the tea later, which was actually good and not watered down). I ordered the fried pickles for appetizer. They were delicious but....there were way too many overly-fried bits on the bottom. For dinner, I ordered the chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak was a bit under-seasoned with more of those dang overly-fried bits on the underside. Mashed potatoes were cold... And dry : AND I LOVE MASHED POTATOES! Green beans were a bit mushy but they were made with bacon, so that made up for it. Was it terrible? No. It was expensive. I wouldn 't necessarily name this place as recommendation to any of my friends or family. I know it 's new but I hope improvements are on the horizon.
