Contribuiți la feedbackOn our third attempt, we called ahead to confirm they were serving Sunday roast. When we arrived, we were informed that there was only one meat option left. We were not greeted or offered a table or drinks, just a child and an unfriendly man. We eventually sat down at a table, but found the service to be equally unapproachable when we tried to order drinks. Feeling unwelcome, we decided to leave and went to nearby places for better service. It is worth noting that the establishment has been for sale since it opened.
The food was very disappointing - cold and unappetizing. The staff seemed uncaring and unfriendly. We had to wait a long time to be served, and it seemed like they didn't really want us there. The tablecloths were dirty, and there was even food on the floor.
We have had a great time during our Sunday lunches at 'The Tavern on The Tye' (formerly known as MOONRAKERS). It's wonderful to see the outdoor seating area at the back, overlooking The Tye, being utilized once again. The food at our lunches was tasty and the drinks were presented well. The venue is very welcoming and definitely deserves the support of the local community. They have added a cozy leather bench corner-seat to part of the seating area, which adds a special touch to the dining experience.
My wife and I had fish and chips on Friday night outside in the garden overlooking the lovely church. Beautiful setting. Fish and chips was about £9 and was lovely. Nice staff too.
I visited Moonraker yesterday, on a perfect English May afternoon in the sunshine. My boyfriend and I sat out in the tiny garden under a sunshade, looking out on the sweet village green with the old parish church and Tudor buildings in the background-it was very sweet. The food was freshly made-just a simple menu, but put together with care. They also made a proper cup of tea that actually looked and tasted of tea, which is very rare. It’s very heartening to find a place like this that doesn’t just think that being in a very pretty place is all it takes-it actually puts a lot of effort into making their customers happy.
