The issue with this restaurant is that they need to minimize two things: the selection on their menu is as cluttered as their gift shop. They have some interesting ideas on the menu but it needs to be revamped and the gift shop is cluttered and claustrophobic with no real concept. If they are going to have a gift shop it needs to focus on one to two concepts (my preference being a wine selection).
Over priced. We were charged extra for a glass of wine we did not order after lunch. We also ordered multiple meat trays, which we do every year for the holidays. The size of the small tray seems to have become smaller since last year. The price for each was 30$ when we were told on the phone they would be 25$. And on top of that there apparently extra charges, or deposits, for each tray: 3.95 for the lid, 3.95 for the bottom. EACH. ON TOP OF THE ORIGINAL PRICE. These are gifts, so if we want to ask everyone to return them later or go pick them up, then great, but who wants to do that. We were never told that until I looked at the receipt and asked. It 's sad to be taken advantage of by oocal shop
Charming store with nick backs from different countries. For lunch, I highly recommend the French onion soup. It has browned cheese on the top and has bread on the edges(like a bread bowl). I practically licked the bowl. It is a cup serving so I would say get something in addition to fill you ip. I also ordered a cleverly named pita sandwich (Pita, the Great). It was fine, not great, but the avocado dressing was delicious. Fun place to eat lunch. I recommend it!
The wait staff is friendly attentive. There is one narrow doorway entrance leading in from the gift shop, and when you walk into the small room where everybody sits, every single person looks up at you. Can you say, Fish bowl ? lol, we were the youngest people there, and we aren 't whippersnappers anymore, sonny-boy! But once you get past that rather awkward moment, this is a pleasant place to have lunch try something with a blast from the past that isn 't the same-ol, same-ol tiresome franchise. I had what they call the Mexican Dream, which is a baked potato topped with chili con carne cheese. I wanted to love it, but it fell short. I want to try something else soon, because they have an intriguing variety. They have 'different ' (meaning more unique) offerings on the menu, but our food seemed to be re-heated frozen fare, and we have not gone back quite yet, but plan to one day. They might have been having an off-day, and everyone was so friendly that they deserve a second chance to impress. Link to their interesting menu: [hidden link] 01:28:11
Like to try new places, but won't try this again-food had no taste, asked for HEAVY SAUERKRAUT and MUSTARD on my Rubin what I got was two teaspoons on the sandwich and very small plastic container with a teaspoon of mustard.
