The fries were good and my sisters liked the wings but the burger wasn?t good and I got the cheese fries that had some horrible yellow liquid that was supposed to be cheese ??? Questionable if it was actually cheese. Waitress was ok. So many good places to spend my money I feel stupid for wasting it here
We love Big AL, so we just knew we would love this place. Not so much. It took a little over 20 minutes to get any type of service. There are only about a dozen tables and 2/3 of them were empty. We ordered an assortment of appetizers and for the most part they were good. That's where that ended. Out main meal was lackluster. I ordered the chicken and waffle meal with hours. It arrived soft and cold. My husband ordered the bbq sandwich. Overcooked and dried out is what it was. Go here for the atmosphere because it is a quaint neighborhood hang out, just eat at home first.
I wish I would NOT have listened to the negative reviews as it kept us from coming here last night. We're new to the area and always love to support local. Let me just say EVERYTHING about our experience was amazing!!!! The service was on point from the moment we stepped in the door. Thank you Jenny!!! The food was amazing and portions were very generous. We had the pleasure of meeting Big Al as he cam through to greet his customers and chatted for a few. Met some very friendly locals as well. We'll be back for sure!
Came because of the name but wasn?t impressed at all. Plastic cups for drinks and several things on menu were not available. I get supply issues but had to try three times to pick my lunch. I guess I expected a broader menu and more beer on tap. Just a pub with a few beers on draft and spirit offerings. Lots of TVs for sports, which is cool. Had the fried chicken sand and house made chips. Very solid chicken sandwich and chips were very good, although could have been cooked longer so crispier. Not impressive enough to bring me back.
We definitely came because of the name and I've personally met Big Al on a couple of occasions. Great guy and he treated his staff with the most ultimate respect. I've been to McKinney Ave Tavern couple of times so I might expected more. If you order wings, I recommend you ask for fried hard or they will come out gummy. Heavily seasoned after cooked. Fries and fried pickles were great. Appetizers good, main entrées lacking a new cook. The drinks were typical priced but was not expecting my tall glass (not glass, plastic) to be smaller than my glass of water. Friendly staff. Won't be back.
