Contribuiți la feedbackWent for Sunday dinner, long wait just to have order taken, had to go and find a waitress just to do this. No roast potatoes for a Sunday roast!(it wasn't even late). Hardly any meat in dishes, crackling was appalling, they were clearly over run early in the day and had no food left! Items missing on dishes, that were advertised. Sat out in a freezing extension, were offered blankets but not really ideal. Overall, really bad experience, especially when compared to previous visits.
Very nice pub friendly staff food excellent I had the venison cottage pie with cabbage plus a pudding my husband had haddock chips and crushed minted peas and three ice creams enjoyed every mouthful , dog friendly aswell. Well done. Parking: Plenty of slots avail ft Food: 5 Service: 5
Had two ales from the adjacent Tilford Brewery here; both amazingly fresh, served by friendly and efficient staff. Large kids playground at the end of the large garden. Didn't care much for the modern gastropub interior (a bit soulless , but with beer this well kept and great service, still merits five stars. (The veranda and garden are much nicer, although winter is coming! Service: 5
I'm sorry to say that so far as value for money is concerned there's a massive NO..... I'd have done better at McDonald's. Two of us fancied a meal at what looked like a good pub eatery. Not living in the area, we didn't know what to expect by way of value for money. My wife wasn't particularly hungry so she ordered a bowl of soup. When it arrived, it was in a tiny jug. The sort of size you'd get milk served in a high class coffee shop. The jug was half full. So she asked for a bit more to top it up. That was £6.50. I ordered sausage and mash. 3 barely cooked sausages, desert spoon of mash, some kind of cabbage, it looked like it had been under a grill because it had burned leaves. The cost of my meal amounted to £14.50.. 1Large coka cola £4.50 I know businesses are under pressure, but this was ridiculous.
It was a hot day which is never easy in a kitchen or for waiting staff which I know from experience. We were a table of four dining for a special occasion. Two dishes arrived with several missing components as is advertised on the menu, the shortfall was made up with a ton of chickpeas. This has to be communicated and wasn't. The green salad appeared to not be dressed, I asked the waiter who then brought oil and vinegar to find the dressing beneath the salad at the base of the dish and not mixed through. Now a double dressed soaking salad. There was no salt, pepper or sauce for our chips. The waiting staff didn't notice, I had to ask, the chips got cold. This is basic training and awareness from waiting staff and communication between themselves and the kitchen. Let's be clear, this is not cheap pub grub and on multiple levels there were failings. The manager was polite and apologetic and for 2 dishes we were not charged. A point in note is that all front of house staff were very young, including the manager which could be fine if well trained and switched on. Perhaps this is cheap labour? Frankly I would expect a lot better on a number of levels.
