The mussels were extremely difficult to open. Thank goodness I didn't fall ill. Perhaps they were just not cooked enough. The dessert was 3 miniscule scoops of ice cream from a local company. Oh and the nibbles left much to be desired. The home made hummus was just roughly smashed up boiled chickpeas and had no flavour. The foccacia was the only redeeming feature. All this and a bottle of wine for £100 was rather steep! Very sub standard food for the price.
We booked a cream tea here for £15.50 each. Must be booked 24 hrs in advance. Absolutely beautiful and very tasty. They catered for an egg allergy without a problem. Complete range of sandwiches, salmon and cucumber, cheese and pickle, beef and tomato, ham and mustard and egg mayonnaise, scones with jam and clotted cream, cakes and petite puddings. Beautifully displayed serves with tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Couldn’t fault it
We’ve stayed here several times. Always been very happy with the level of accommodation and food. Spent another enjoyable weekend there with our friends who were equally happy and we all look forward to returning for another break in the future.
Sunday night is a quiz night that could be heard in the room, not a pleasant experience, Car park could do with some attention in need of repair. Room not that special for 4 stars, breakfast, was ok not a real full English, disappointed did not have any vegan options on the menu, even though we put this preference on the booking form, it obvious they don’t read the information provided. Staff are friendly though my rating would be 2 stars.
The service was friendly and knowledgeable with no waiting. The recommendations for food and drink were spot on. We both had the sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection. For dessert one had Eton Mess and the other had a selection of icecream/sorbet. The Eton Mess was delicious and came with a strawberry and mint icecream which was to die for. There was a good choice of icecreams/sorbets, the highlight of which was the gingerbread icecream. Worth every penny, woukd go again.
