La Quinta Inn Wausau

Very clean. Rooms all updated. Friendly staff. If you are visiting someone in the hospital they have a discount.

I have stayed here a several times and have enjoyed my stay. On this visit I was put in a room along the road and a security light shined in my room and made it hard to sleep even with the curtains. Picture included that I took at 3:00am to show how bright it was. These lights should face straight up instead of how they currently are. The following week I stayed again and just requested to not be along the road and it was a good stay.

Dang it!! Made the mistake of choosing this hotel again as we passed through. No up-dating yet. Come on Wyndham!! This is new though; visible mold growing on the ceiling and the wall above the shower insert. Nasty.

Blew off my intended Appleton campsite in a torrential rain and pointed myself to LaQuinta in Wausau mostly due to a couple decent restaurants open late on this Sunday (Father's Day) night. No reservation but check-in was quick and the room (129) was spotless. I was particularly impressed with the washroom which was either recently re-done or meticulously maintained. Although just off the highway, it is not ON the highway so there was no traffic noise. About those restaurants? Well, long waits. Settled for a seat at the bar at Applebees. Got a fine drink, an engaged server and served shortly after ordering.

I only needed a 1 night stay after being at the nearby hospital all day with a friend. The room was very clean and quiet. And the bed was very comfortable. There are plenty of places very close by to catch a light dinner. Breakfast was perfect for my needs but if you are looking for eggs and bacon or biscuits and gravy or waffles they had that too. The dinning area was clean and bright. The only thing that would have made my stay easier would have been an elevator. Luckily I didn't have a lot of heavy luggage. I would definitely stay again .
