Antojitos Guerrero - Waukegan

Let me just say I was on the fence about trying this place out. I 've been to several authentic Mexican restaurants but I sometimes feel like they don 't deliver in term of their food. I 'm so glad that was not the case with this spot. The lady working at the time, not sure if she 's the owner, was very friendly and welcoming. I came in with my mom who is very peculiar about what she orders and how it 's prepared and tastes. She chatted with her and we found out that she 's from the state of Guerrero like we are. We got our order which I should inform good quality food takes time to prepare so if anyone is expecting to get their food ultra quick, please be patient, the wait is worth it.We ordered the picaditas rojas, a bowl of pozole verde for my mom, a gordita de pollo, and arrachera azada yeah we were that hungry. Like I said, it took some time to prepare but it was soo worth it. It 's been a long time I 've walked out as satisfied as I did then. I highly recommend this place for amazing food.I should add it is small and seating may be limited but don 't let that deter you.

Bad Quesadillas, no flavor and expensive for the kind of food.

Just had lunch there. I’m in town on assignment, so I’m not from the area. I had a taco de lengua, a taco de barbacoa, and a huarache de asada. The food was ridiculously good. I watched her pound the masa down before my eyes. Everything was cooked to perfection and the salsas were spicy and delicious. Both roja and verde. The horchata was great too. They had a basket full of candies and treats, as photographed. Think I was slightly overcharged, but after a meal that good I’m not arguing about a couple bucks. $15 seems fine for the plate you see below. And I feel it was non intentional so the 5 star review stands! Highly recommend, just watch those receipts ???

Hand made tortillas! Food and service is superb. Real and authentic Guerrero Pozole. A must when in town. Blocks away from the Metra!

Called to place an order,a photo of the menu was posted online. But when I ordered 20 Tacos the lady charged me $2.50 per, the menu show a completely different price. Tasty Tacos but hidden costs are never fair.
