The Three Compasses - Watford

I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. I brought my family here for Mother's Day and we were seated at a worn-out table next to the restroom that nobody could lean on. Our kids' meals arrived about 15 minutes before our starters, and then we had to wait a good hour for our mains to come out. By the time our food arrived, our children were bored and uninterested. My burger was quite dry, but my wife enjoyed her roast. We hurried through our meal before our kids became too restless. When we wanted more drinks, I had to go up to the bar and order myself because no one came to check on us. I usually like to tip well, but I have to say that even the 80p I left behind annoyed me. I have had a pleasant meal here before, so maybe this was just an off day for the restaurant.

The overall experience was okay. The lobster and chips were served lukewarm, but the mixed grill was a good value. The service for drinks and refills was slow, likely due to how busy they were.

I really enjoyed my evening, food , venue and staff were wonderful. What sullied my experience was; having had a really nice evening with good friends, arriving home I received an email, chastising me for not making my reservation, I was told that you took a 'hit ' when people of my ilk did not bother to turn up. Appalled, I wrote back immediately, explaining that I had made my reservation. I got up early the next day at 6.00 am to receive another offensive email, stating that I could not respond to the first one but could I take the time to explain why I did not make my reservation. I responded to that too. Then I got another email asking for feedback which I am responding to now. I think you should review your data collecting system. I know plenty of people who would happily book 5 restaurants for one evening and just go to the one that suited them best. They would not care less about your cutting emails. I however have never not made a reservation without informing the restaurant in question, and find your emails offensive. Should I return to your restaurant I will make sure I get some assurance from a member of your staff, that I am indeed present and I will not receive any offensive email to the contrary.

This restaurant is a fantastic spot to enjoy a meal and spend an evening with friends.

Our children food came about 15 minutes before our beginnings, we waited a good hour for our head. Until then, our two little children had lost interest and were boring. My burger was very dry. Wife enjoyed her frying. We are as fast as possible before the children became too restless. When we wanted more drinks, I just went to the bar and ordered how never someone checked in us. I own my own business and often get tips so I always like to tap well. Gota Day the 80p I left even annoyed me. Had a nice meal before so maybe a free day.
