Governor's Bakery - Waterville

I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap and was disappointed to find only two small pieces of chicken in each half, totaling just four tiny pieces—barely the equivalent of a chicken nugget. Our waitress seemed inexperienced; she didn’t check on us, didn’t offer or ask if my child needed sauce for his chicken strips, and when it was time to get takeout boxes, she only gave us two for the four of us who hardly touched our meals. I really wish we had Sam as our waiter—he's always attentive and efficient. The restaurant was surprisingly empty this time, and I don’t think I’ll return unless Sam is serving us.

Gary and his staff made our Christmas Party lunch with our staff and family very festive. The food was great, awesome wait staff and just a great atmosphere. Don't forget to have desert first! Thanks Team Governors. We will be returning next year for our Christmas luncheon.

Governor's is a favorite for my out of state family to go to when they come to visit us. Service has always been good, food is normally good as well, parking normally plenty of spaces, a ton of dessert options to chose from. Only negative things I'd point out, the menus I've noticed are sticky occasionally, you can tell the age of the restaurant with some of the benches/seats, and one dessert (strawberry shortcake) the homemade biscuit was as hard as a hockey puck (it was near closing time so was probably left out or something all day). Otherwise highly recommend this location when in the area.

UPDATED REVIEW: 12/25/23 We ordered three containers of haddock chowder for takeout, and the total came to $38. With that price, we expected it to be packed with potatoes and fish. However, when we got home, one of the containers had ZERO haddock—just potatoes! The others only had one or two small pieces of fish at most. I really dislike leaving a negative review, but I have to mention this. On the bright side, the chowder was tasty. We were just disappointed with the portion sizes. That said, this one bad experience won't deter us from returning; we just hope for a better experience next time.
