Masala Art - Washington DC

I live in the neighborhood and for as long as this restaurant has been around, I have never eaten there before. I went out to dinner with a friend of mine who happens to be a Vegan and I know that Indian cuisine is very accommodating to someone with that kind of lifestyle. So, I was very excited to give it a try. I don't like too spicy food, so, I ordered a lamb dish and the waiter assured me that it wasn't really spicy and it wasn't, so I was happy. The dish was very tasty and my friend enjoyed her vegan dishes as well. The ambience was very nice and the prices were very reasonable. I will definitely be back. Thank you for a great experience.

I was truly amazed by the everything this restaurant had to offer from the ambience, service to the food!!! The menu had unique dishes such as broccoli and peas shammi, kafir lime and basil chicken tikka simply finger licking good. Prices are reasonable and food quality and quantity is excellent. A must try I will be back there with the family very soon.

I generally don't prefer Indian food outside home. Someone suggested this restaurant in Washington. One of the most authentic Indian food I have ever had. The biryanis, Shrimp peri periperi, aloo sphere chaat, Sweet corn patties, baingan mirch ka salan were extraordinary. Such food is missed in India as well. Elaichi ice cream was unheard of. Fabulous!!! So was the doda barfi.

This restaurant is a fantastic addition to the waterfront dining scene and the ideal spot for Arena Stage patrons before a show. The service is upscale, and they offer contemporary takes on Indian classics. The biryani (if I'm spelling it correctly) is the best I've ever tasted, whether it's lamb or chicken. The Taj Mahal cocktail is outstanding. While it's not the cheapest option, it's definitely worth it—expect to spend at least $50 per person.
