Grace Street Coffee - Washington DC

I really enjoyed my visit! The atmosphere is pleasant, and it's definitely biker-friendly. The drinks are great, and it's a relaxing spot away from the hustle and bustle, conveniently located next to a lovely garden across the street. However, they don't serve pastries before 10 AM, just cups. I also had to explain to the barista that I wanted a hot latte, as they didn't seem to know how to make a flat white!

I had high hopes for this place, and it wouldn’t be fair to label it just a regular coffee shop. They definitely have the potential to be a specialty coffee venue. However, I was surprised that my cappuccino was served so hot that the milk nearly burned my tongue. I admit I'm a bit particular about these things.

If I feel like changing things up, I also really enjoy their plain steeped teas, particularly the oolong. Unlike many other coffee spots that just serve a tea bag and a cup of hot water, Grace Street uses loose leaf tea and goes the extra mile to steep it properly at the right temperature and for the right amount of time. It’s a small detail, but it really reflects their commitment to quality and enhancing the customer experience. I usually treat myself to a visit here early on Friday mornings around 7:30 AM as a reward for getting through the week. Although there are always other customers, it never feels too hectic, and it's the perfect way to start my day. However, once it gets to late morning and afternoon, the café tends to fill up quickly, and finding a seat becomes quite a challenge. If you can arrive early and secure a spot, though, you'll enjoy abundant natural light and the baristas' excellent taste in music, making it a fantastic place to study, get some work done, or catch up with friends!

I stopped by Grace Coffee a few days ago, only one employee there and she was wiping the counter top with a clothe and cleaning spray. I ordered a coffee and she started working on it right away without washing her hands nor putting a gloves on, I asked politely if she could wash her hands as she was wiping, her answer was (but my hand are clean)! I asked her again please wash your hand before making the coffee, she finally did but in unpleasant way. I mean covid still spreading along with other germs and viruses, I would appreciate if business owners take such matter seriously and train their employees. I don't think washing hands regularly or at least after cleaning would harm!

Great space, fine music selection, one of the best egg and cheese sandwiches I've ever had! Ice chai was great too. Definitely coming back here ?
