Taffer’s Tavern – Washington, D.c. (chinatown)

The food was decent, but not exceptional—just average. Although the restaurant was busy, the service was notably slow. Overall, it was fine, but nothing beyond a typical experience.

Our server, Otis, was excellent—very attentive and personable. The food was typical pub fare. Perhaps next time I'll be more adventurous and try some of the entrees. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience!

The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere, and I particularly enjoyed the truffle fries. It was a quiet day with few customers, and we spent our time watching the bowl games. Unfortunately, our server was not very attentive. I ordered the Cobb salad with salmon, but the dressing was almost non-existent. I waited over 10 minutes for assistance to ask for dressing, but by the time it arrived, I had lost interest in it. The salad itself had too much bacon and needed more of the other ingredients. We also tried the pork belly skewers, which were very tender but didn't have the robust flavor I expected. The deviled eggs lacked sufficient filling; most of it was at the bottom, rather than inside the eggs. My husband, on the other hand, really enjoyed the fish and chips. I might consider returning after my sober January to explore the drink options, but they should definitely add mocktail choices as well.

We were seated right next to the doors to the kitchen, and next to a table of 12 kids under 12 whose inconsiderate parents left them banging glasses, yelling and acting like entitled pricks. The restaurant staff seemed overwhelmed, got confused and brought the wrong drinks to our table, and did nothing to manage the unruly table of kids. They should have asked their parents to intervene or to leave. We won’t be coming back. Terrible ambiance.

The service was great. The food was not sogreat (hamburgers were dry, chicken herb dish was not that tasty). The best food we had was the appetizer-spinach artichoke dip. We decided to try the sampler (drinks) and they were so strong that they were not enjoyable.
