Contribuiți la feedbackI want to start by saying that I really want to like this location, certain staff members are truly wonderful people. But, I am having to update this review to include another consistent issue. This one is regarding shop cleanliness. The conditions of the bathrooms are often quite dirty and the tables and chairs are always a mess. I’m not sure if the closing staff are told that they dont have to clean, but in the mornings the shop is always dirty. The bathrooms, specifically, smell disgusting. I often have to hold my breath upon entering. While this is quite an issue, it could be easily solved by simply turning on the fans in the bathroom so that the air does not stagnate. This is a health concern given that inhaling stagnant air which contains a plethora of germs can easily cause sickness to spread. I really hope that the staff see this as an issue that is easily fixable and decide to take action.I truly enjoy coming here. It’s a very nice step up from the shabby Starbucks that are nearby. My only reservation is that if you want to spend an extended period of time here, then bring earplugs. The music is always INCREDIBLY loud and usually NOT coffee shop music. There have been days that they play music that seems to be hard rock or metal. If the music was quiet and pleasant, such as jazz, then this location would be the best!Parking: This area is incredibly difficult to park in. It’s truly incredible how everyday, during all hours, it is packed. Also make sure to turn your wind mirrors in because if you don’t they WILL be hit. It happens more than it should.
Excellent breakfast sandwich; wonderful conversation with another customer, good coffee.
Unfortunately you do not have any more (that is what I was told) the coffee that I usually buy: Ethiopi
Love the coffee. Unfortunately this company is operating in violation if DC laws that require businesses to accept cash payments. If you want to pay cash they tell you you must have exact change. So your $3 coffee can easily cost $20 if you don’t have the exact amount. Failure to accept cash payments is discrimination. Those affected are those who cannot fight back. I will boycott this business despite my regard for their coffee until they comply with DC law. RESPONSE TO OWNER REPLY — I had a $20 bill. You told me I could not get change. I chose not to grossly overpay so I used a card. I HAD a card. I have lots of cards. There are plenty of people who don’t — people who have bad credit; people whose income level precludes them from qualifying for a card; immigrants who fear deportation. THESE are the people you discriminate against, not me. You inconvenienced me, but I could still get a coffee. The reason I won’t support you and why I have chosen to speak out is to point out to you that you do engage in discriminatory business practices that you should be ashamed of, and that you are operating in violation of DC law. Apparently these things don’t bother you, but they do bother me.
The restaurant offers excellent seating options and decent Wi-Fi. However, I must caution students looking to use this space for studying: if the staff sees that you don’t intend to make a purchase during your visit, you may be asked to leave. It’s a shame, especially given its proximity to a university.
