Contribuiți la feedbackI have to confess that I only tried the dipping noodles, so my rating might be different if I had sampled another dish. As many have noted, the broth is incredibly delicious, and they really excel in that area. However, while the noodles tasted good with the broth, they didn’t blow me away, and I was hoping for more flavor considering it was a $20 dish. On a positive note, the Echigo beer was excellent!
During my first visit, I was truly impressed by both the service and the food. I highly recommend the Karaage (Japanese fried chicken)! It's wonderfully crispy, incredibly tender, and juicy, with fantastic flavor. We also tried the weekly special featuring the Fat Noodle Triple Threat, which was equally delightful. The Tonkotsu had a clean flavor profile, while the Triple Threat packed a more robust taste. The onsen eggs were delicious, with a perfectly runny center. If you're in search of a great ramen spot that's a bit off the beaten path in a quiet neighborhood outside of central DC, I highly recommend this place!
Tl;dr: I love this place! They are very active with their community and the best ramen in DC hands down. Karaage 5/5: *DINE IN ONLY* Perfectly crispy, with a delicious mayo sauce. Truffle Shoyu 4/5: Very yummy shoyu broth with a bold truffle oilflavor. Pork belly is perfectly grilled on one side, but not the other . Noodles cooked perfectly, taste freshly made. TripleThreat 5/5: Best Tonkatsu broth in DC. The broth is thick enough that it coats the noodles! What makes it a triple threat isthat the broth is a chicken, pork, and dashi broth. Vibes 5/5: It feels like I'm back in Japan at a local ramen shop in theheart of Japan. They do a really good job at providing an authentic experience.
I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant after waiting on the list for an hour and a half, and I can confidently say it was worth it! We began our meal with the chicken karaage paired with Yuzu Mayo. The outside was wonderfully crunchy, while the inside was tender and juicy. I enjoyed it so much that I even saved some to enjoy with my ramen! I ordered the Sunset Shoyu, and the broth was incredibly flavorful—I finished the entire bowl in one sitting because it absolutely did not disappoint. My sister chose the Truffle Shoyu, and wow! What a unique flavor! While she found it a bit bland for her tastes, the broth itself was rich and delightful. I’ve been trying to get into this place for a whole year, and I’m so glad I finally had the opportunity. Their menu is selective, but they’re accommodating to vegans, and the taste and quality are top-notch! I highly recommend getting on the waitlist online and giving this spot a try! Also, keep in mind that you can order takeout if seating is unavailable.
I really enjoyed the ramen you can tell they homemade the broth from scratch and you can really taste all the umami flavor released from bones after getting boiled for long hours. There were not many options on the menu but they really specialized inmaking each single one of the ramen on the menu. We got the triple treat and spicy tonkotsu, and the broth was delicious andrich, but not greasy. My bf literally finished all the broth for the tonkotsu. The chicken karaage was also very juicy andwell seasoned, paired well with their yuzu mayo.
