My son is the head chef. I am not being partial because he is my son because let's face it mom is your biggest critic good or bad. I have been here several times super busy especially on the weekends and have never had a bad experience. Not just with the food but the service there and the employee's. Keep up the good work!!
Was in the area and searched for a place for breakfast and figured we would try Bufords out based on the location and reviews. We were not sorry. This place was slammed busy but we were greated by friendly staff. Got a seat pretty quick and started the order off with a **** Mary and Mimosa for the misses. Drinks were fairly priced, moderately sized and yummy. Establishment was clean. Ordered breakfast and it took a little while. Without complaining or making any issues at all, the server recognized we waited awhile, apologized and gave us a small discount. The gesture and acknowledgement was truthfully amazing. Who does that nowadays? To be honest, we really didn't wait that long especially for how busy they were. Food arrived, portions were large, it was delicious and despite being busy.....our server was attentive. We definitely recommend Bufords but suggest seeing if you can get Jameson, she is an excellent server. We will be back for sure.
OMG! The food here was absolutely delicious! Well worth it. The drinks were comparable to most other places in the Pittsburgh area, nothing that stood out as amazing, but I did feel they were over priced for what you got, but if you're not a drinker nothing for you to worry about. The food is worth going trying. The fried green tomatoes were there best I've had in a long time. I can't wait to go back!
Inside, the decor features a quasi-industrial vibe, with wooden tables and metal chairs arranged quite closely together. The restaurant aims to embody a Southern theme in its cuisine, although I found no real evidence of this in the dishes themselves. Essentially, it functions as a burger and sandwich shop, offering a few additional entrees, salads, and soups. The burger options are 'build your own', allowing patrons to customize their meal with various toppings (just be aware that some toppings and sauces come with an extra charge). The 'po' boys' section offers a modest selection of grinders—submarine sandwiches, depending on your preference. My dining companion and I began our meal with the stuffed jalapeno appetizer, expecting the typical cheese-filled and batter-fried poppers. We were pleasantly surprised when our plate arrived featuring six halved jalapenos filled with sausage, drizzled with a spicy cream sauce, and topped with chopped tomatoes and scallions. It was quite enjoyable! For our main courses, we ordered a burger and a Chicken Po' Boy. Although the menu stated that entrees would come with kettle chips, our waitress informed us they were out and offered French fries instead. Given that the restaurant had only been open for about a month, it was an unexpected twist! We decided to go with one order of regular fries and one of sweet potato fries. A short while later, our food arrived. Instead of plates, we were served metal baskets lined with paper towels, featuring the burger or po' boy on top, with fries on the side. Our table was equipped with bottles of ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, two BBQ sauces, and a shaker of Cajun seasoning. While one BBQ sauce was labeled 'spicy', we could hardly distinguish between the two, as they both had an overwhelmingly sweet flavor. The Chicken Po' Boy was essentially a grilled chicken sandwich, with the chicken chopped into chunks and placed on a bed of shredded lettuce in a standard sub roll. It was quite unremarkable. The burger, served on a brioche roll, was similarly lackluster, with only the choice of toppings providing any intrigue. The regular fries were just like those found in most restaurants, and the sweet potato fries seemed sourced from the same supplier as many local eateries. Overall, we were disappointed with the experience, especially following our strong initial impression from the jalapeno appetizer. I don't foresee myself seeking this place out in the future, but I wouldn't oppose going if someone else felt strongly about it. Ultimately, it’s just an average restaurant.
We visited for the first time tonight and were a bit apprehensive as we looked over the menu and prices, thinking we might end up paying a lot for small portions. To our pleasant surprise, the portion sizes were actually quite reasonable for the prices, and the food was delicious! We tried the BBQ pork nachos, which were amazing, as well as chicken strips and fries that were both tasty and generously sized. The brisket Philly was also very good. The BBQ sauces were decent on their own, but when mixed together, they were quite enjoyable. Despite the restaurant being short-staffed, with only one waitress handling a full house, the service was excellent. We felt well taken care of, and the waitress even apologized for any delays, which we didn’t really notice. We will definitely be returning. FoodFather Approved!
