Although it was a Tuesday, they should have anticipated a higher turnout for Valentine's Day. They did not ask us about drinks, even though the Valentine's Day menu included Thai iced tea. They also did not offer us coffee or tea with dessert. To make matters worse, they mistakenly charged me for my wife's appetizer, even though it was part of the fixed menu. At a nearby table, another couple had to repeatedly explain their drink orders to the waiter, who initially brought the wrong items. After several attempts, they finally received the correct drinks.
Tasty Thai food with very accomodating service. Chef meets your required levels of spice per order.
Tru Thai is not a very busy restaurant, and I don't know why. I can really only think that it's the location, because the food was great. I had been there once or twice in the past couple of years, and I can't remember having a bad experience. So, it's location, in a quiet shopping area, not quite in the dead center of Warren must be the reason... The decor is really quite appropriate and the waitresses were quite attentive. I'm pretty sure that Tru Thai is a BYO. We started with the puff pastries and samosas that my wife craved. Both items came with their own sauces. The puff pastry came with a Thai vinegar mix and the fried samosas came with a duck sauce. For dinner, my wife order chicken fried rice and I ordered the Basil beef. Both were great, and I was really happy to see that they were using steak and not something else for the Thai basil. Portion's were large enough that neither of us finished our meals. Also, make sure to ask them to change your heat preference. They go from levels 1-5, where 5 is the spiciest. The 5 was perfect for me. My wife asked for a 2. Give this place a try. Enjoy!
Had a wonderful Mother's Day luncheon with a special 2-course meal and dessert.
I made a reservation at TRU Thai based on a friend's recommendation. The reservation was for a party of 8, which was surprising as most places only take reservations for smaller groups. The restaurant is BYOB, which kept the cost down. The server appeared to be unfamiliar with the menu, but that was the only hiccup of the night. The food was delicious and it was evident that it was freshly made on site. Overall, it was a very good experience and I believe it will only improve as the server gains more experience.
