Blount Clam Shack On The Waterfront

Down here, there are nearly 350 restaurants, with the seafood spots mostly located in Murrells Inlet. We've been on the lookout for clams in any form, but no restaurant we've tried can compare to the delicious food back home. There's only ONE place that serves fried clams with the belly, and they only get shipments on Thursdays. By 11:00 AM, the locals who know about it are already waiting outside for their clams. By the end of lunchtime, all the clams are gone! The other two places we tried only offer clam strips or steamers, which just isn’t the same. The authentic New England flavor is simply absent here. Please keep doing what you do best! Looking forward to seeing you in June!

Turns out I don't like clams but if you do, you should eat here. I got the clam chowder and found the clams to be chewy (maybe I was eating them wrong? Do you just swallow it whole? but the rest of the chowder was flavorful and I did my best to eat around the clams. I also had the fish Reuben which is a misnomer since it has cole slaw and not sauerkraut but semantics aside the fish was fried fresh and hot. The tarter sauce and cole slaw were delicious. I also tried their Clam Shack Summer Ale and at first was disappointed it was brewed in MA, but they make damn good beer there so I get it. I'm not from the area, but I hope I get to come back again! I came on a Friday at lunch and must have beat the rush as there was no line! Great waterfront low key dining.

Fried clams and lobster roll were fabulous!! Was a bit chilly, so food cooled off quick. Will def try again!

I really enjoyed my time at Blount Clam Shack. The employees were extremely kind and offered suggestions. When we arrived around 3:00pm on a Monday, there was more than enough parking and it was not crowded. There was a great amount of seating as well. All tables were clean and the property is well maintained. Our food came out in about 5 minutes. We ordered a small Lobster Roll with Sweet Potato Fries and Coleslaw and a Giant Lobster Roll with Chowder and Coleslaw. We also got a side of fresh fruit. Our total was around $85.00. The Lobster Rolls were packed full of an immense amount of lobster, which was smothered in butter. The Chowder had a generous amount of cubed potatoes and clams. If I lived in the area, I would be going back!

During the wait, you can listen to a middle-aged guy playing guitar, which might be enjoyable for some, but I’d prefer to just listen to some dad rock on my Spotify instead. Honestly, I’d rather pay twice as much to sit indoors for food that’s not as mediocre simply because the atmosphere here just isn’t worth it to me. The best part of this place, from an out-of-towner’s standpoint, was the classic plastic puck they give you to indicate when your meal is ready. Overall, it just wasn’t worth the experience.
