Contribuiți la feedbackI had an interesting experience when I arrived at this restaurant at 9 a.m. for breakfast. I was not greeted enthusiastically and it seemed like vacuuming was more of a priority than serving breakfast. The breakfast menu was very basic, with thin Turkish bread and eggs that were supposed to be poached for Eggs Benedict but turned out to be fried instead. The restaurant was cold outside, with no heating inside and the doors wide open. Unfortunately, it seemed like the owner was more interested in their carpet than in their customers.
After hiking in the Girraween National Park in the morning we drove to Wallangarra for lunch. The café is located in the old railway station and has a lot of character. The food is a great café tea. You are licensed to have a beer or wine...available if you want. The staff is pleasant and the food came within a reasonable time. A great conclusion of our morning exercise.
After mesmerizing about 45 minutes from the wonderful historical exhibition at the railway museum, I wandered next door to visit the old dining room that was transformed into a modern café/restaurant. When I went to the product display, a large group of people stacked at a long table and prevented me from searching. So I went back to the platform where I noticed a window with a sign that clearly said "Take Away Orders Here '. I went by and was immediately served by a polite young woman. I asked if I could take a cup of tea? She said yes. I paid her, then a man came by and called me angry: "You just have to wait, we're busy! I was horrified of his attitude, which was anything but hospitable and welcoming. I replied, "I know you're busy. I just wanted a cup of tea. Then foolishly tried to highlight the simplicity of my question, I said, "I could make it myself." He answered, "You will be too busy for us! 30 people just walked in! Then he stormed. Did I hear him right? Did he say I have to get my own cup of tea? Both the polite young woman and the man had disappeared and left me confused. In no phase either followed the usual practice adopted by Cafés/Restaurants/Pubs Australia, and said: "There is a waiting period of xx min for beverage orders at the moment, are you happy to wait? 'If I had given myself this courtesy, I would have liked to say 'yes'. Uncertain whether I should wait or make my own cup of tea, I went in and found the polite young woman who had served me. She said she would do my order next. I thanked her and went back to wait. The man then came to the take-out window and began to close it and take the shield inside. He said, "You can go somewhere else. ' Puzzled, I answered 'Excuse me? 'You can go somewhere else if you are so impatient!' Within seconds, the polite young woman gave me my cup of tea. The man's attitude was shameful and served only as an example of poor customer service for the young woman who remained calm, polite and efficient. Your customer service skills were far superior to him! I won't be back!
Excellent coffee (flat white with extra shot) and scone in a quiet spacious environment. What a great location. I need to plan my next visit for the arrival of the steam train
Attended the railway Cafe with family that travelled from Victoria to visit. As we are Queenslanders, we are very well aware of the requirement of using the Check In QLD app, wearing masks and the 'green tick ' to be able to enter the establishment to...eat. We stood at the doorway, prior to entering to do the necessary check ins. We were treated VERY rudely, initially by the waitress. She, in turn, got the old lady who is the owner. Such a bitter old woman who demanded to see that we had checked in. Not a please, thank you or even a smile in sight. Customer service and hospitality is lost on this woman. We understand there are regulations but if this woman treats everyone like this, no wonder the tables were all empty. Needless to say, we left this establishment and won 't be returning. A waste of time!! Such a shame for a beautiful old railway station with a unique history.
