The Catchpenny - Wakefield

There were six of us in our party, and after 60 minutes of waiting for our food, we had to ask how much longer it would be. We were told it would only be another 10 minutes, but we ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes before our meals finally arrived. I had the cajun chickenburger, which wasn't too bad, but overall, the experience was lacking. We won't be returning in the future.

I visited the counter and ordered fish and chips, fish cake and chips, and sausages and chips. All the dishes were served excellently with a smile.

Visit the hide of the catchpenny and frankly, it is not the extra money worth, could also only have the same eating in the pub. the environment was disappointing, we thought it was a themed restaurant and apart from some small gestures to a safari. it is only really the back room in a pub. music from the kitchen disturbed the music in the es pane and talks between the kitchen staff and other staff who added to the erosion of any atmosphere they try to create. the service was rushed as soon as we had finished our net, we were asked if we wanted to dessert. it is a steak dominated menu, but one of the steaks was not available....unbelievable really. can't criticize eating as it was good.

A large group of us attended for Sunday lunch, we travelled a distance as we had heard it was under new ownership. The bar dining room looked like it had been refurbished however it was really cold so we had to keep our coats...on. We all ordered Sunday lunch some chose just beef whilst few others had beef and chicken. The meat was really tough and chewy, the chicken was brown thigh scraps' that you'd normally give to your dog!! The best bit was that for 2 meats you had to pay extra which is an insult when they don't even serve sliced chicken! The meal is served plated, the veg was ok. Definitely wont be returning!!

Lovely Sunday dinner today, didn’t book but they fit myself and hubby in the restaurant. Catered for me as a veggie and hubby said meat was lovely. The veg was cooked nicely, definitely recommend it!
