However, this time we decided to take a break due to heavy traffic on our journey, and we were very happy that we did. The staff was helpful, friendly, and welcoming, which made it a very pleasant pit stop for us. We ended up staying longer than we had planned. We will definitely be stopping by again when we travel this route.
Make sure to stop here for a much-needed late coffee break. The exterior may not be the most appealing, but inside it is clean and serves freshly cooked food. I enjoyed a delicious cheese and onion toastie, while my partner had the chicken and bacon. We also ordered 2 instant coffees to keep us going until dinner.
Just visited this hidden gem of a restaurant for the first time after never being sure if it was open. We decided to give it a try and we are so glad we did. The freshly cooked food, especially the Fish Finger Sandwich, was a delight. The waitress was lovely and we will definitely be coming back.
This is a private café on the A1 south border. It's not a chain of money attack services. Stop here for a comfort and a rest. Needs the facilities and a break. Toilets only for customers. Good enough, I didn't. Why should they offer free facilities? I asked the waitress if she could make me a double print. She said she'd make it if I came back from that plush. Great. She did it and brought it to me. I drink this amount when on a long way as there is a kick for me when I'm tired and it's not too much fluid so I don't stop again in half an hour. I have to say it must be one of the VERY BEST I've ever had. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you. Just what I needed. There is a varied menu here that I didn't eat, but it was the friendly helpful staff that made it really point out. Well done! Very impressed. Would recommend without exception.
This was purely a comfort stop on our way down to the Channel Tunnel. However, the sign on the door said “Toilet for customers only” so I asked the lady behind the counter if I could use the toilet first, before we had a coffee....Not a problem. The place took me back 40 50 years when we first started driving around the UK. So after the loo, ordered coffee and a hot chocolate. Hubby decided he’d have a bacon sandwich. I decided I didn’t need one, but once we’d sat down at the clean table, and the bacon roll arrived, I decided I needed one. Best bacon roll we’d had on our month in the UK. The service couldn’t have been better, courteous, nothing too much trouble. The A1 is no longer a favourite, but this place knocks the socks off a motorway service station. Keep up the great work girls.
