The Pioneer Bar Restaurant - Waipapa

We started with the squid appetizer, and for mains, we ordered baby back BBQ ribs, scotch fillet, and lamb shoulder roast. The fillet and lamb were outstanding—perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. The ribs were decent, although the 'Korean BBQ' flavor was off; they were still tasty, just not quite right. However, the 'sticky rice' that accompanied the ribs was a complete disaster. It was somehow dry and heavy at the same time, and there was an odd white residue that none of us could identify. It certainly didn't enhance the dish! Perhaps they should consider replacing that with a traditional BBQ rib served with potatoes instead of rice. On a positive note, the other meals and cocktails were quite good. Nonetheless, given the prices, the service and atmosphere could definitely use some improvement.

Wow, what a fantastic place to unwind, enjoy a meal, and sip on some cold drinks. The bar staff are incredibly friendly, and their service is extremely professional. The portions are generous, delicious, and reasonably priced. There's always something exciting going on here, whether it's karaoke on Thursdays, quiz nights, a DJ, or live bands—there's something happening every week. Great job, Tyler, Annette, and the team!

This is a lovely bar featuring both an indoor space and a garden area where you can enjoy drinks and food. There's a separate dining room that offers delicious meals. Additionally, there are a couple of pool tables where you can have some fun with friends. I happened to visit on karaoke night, which added to the lively atmosphere. The staff were friendly, and the place had a great social vibe.

Best chicken salad ever and the smoked meat and cheesy mac meals have us drooling. Friendly staff and my favourite pinot gris. Thank you.

Had a lovely dinner with my partner for Valentines Day. The atmosphere and setting of the place is wonderful and the staff are super friendly and attentive. Food was delicious, we had the lamb shank and the Caesar salad which were both amazing, the salad had heaps of flavor and the lamb was falling off the bone. Thank you so much to the staff and chefs, we had a wonderful experience! We'll definitely be back!
