My partner and I visited the Murray River Queen in March 2016, the staff were friendly but we ended up waiting 50 minutes for our meals and it turned out to be a later night than expected. Apparently the "take away" orders are more important and if the chef is cooking your meal and a customer orders the same as you, they will give them your meal and start yours again. Which makes sense as we were waiting so long! I hope they have reviewed this issue and fixed the problem. I however will not return
During our two-night stay, we dined at the Thai Restaurant on the Murray River Queen. My husband, who doesn't like spicy food, was unsure of what to order. However, the owner (who was also our waiter) took the time to explain the dishes he recommended, and we left satisfied and hoping to return. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The staff was attentive and made us feel special without being overbearing.
The Murray River Queen will soon undergo a complete renovation, so I won't comment on the current decor. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making us feel like old friends. We were surprised to find that the cuisine offered was Thai, considering the boat is located in a small country town. Despite this, we decided to try it out. I ordered the Coconut Chicken salad, which was tasty but excessively spicy, even after requesting for it to be milder. My husband was not a fan of his meat curry as it was too oily. We both felt that the prices were too high for the quality of the food served. In my opinion, offering a seafood menu could greatly improve the venue's success. Just a suggestion.
My wife and I had a wonderful evening on board. We celebrated our honeymoon on this ship in 1977, so it was a special experience to visit it again. The service was fantastic and the Thai restaurant was outstanding- I especially loved the choo chee prawns- they were amazing. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast before we left. Our cabin was big, clean, and comfortable. We stayed in cabin 7 on the Riverside of the boat.
