Solemer - W MONTREAL

I went to Solemer today (ex- Sirene de la Mer). We ordered 1 Red Snapper $30cad-kg and 8 shrimps at $47cad-kg. I ordered it from their little shop that is adjacent to the restaurant because my friend and I wanted seafood without the extras (rice-salads-fries). Our fish was 1.095 kg for $32.85 and our shrimps .300gr for $14cad. You think that would be the bill; well wrong. The bill came $52.13cad for Red Snapper and $20.70 for shrimps. I was shocked and fuming because this is TOTAL RIP OFF AND DISHONNEST. I talked to the shop adjacent to the restaurant an said YOU SHOULD TELL CLIENTS THAT YOU CHARGE $27 additional cooking-and-preparation. He was discourteous, rude and non apologetic and replied that complaints should be directed to the Restaurant. My Bill came to $105.57 and the owner of the restaurant presented the credit card machine to pay and clicked automatically on 15% service, on his own. Being POLITE AND WELL BRED, I agreed for the 15%. However the whole experience ws UTTERLY DISTASTEFUL AND UNPLEASANT. Their service was mediocre and doesnt deserve 15% at all. Their entrees olives and turneps were mushy and soggy and when I asked to replace them. The owner wasnt pleased at all and grimaced while doing it. This is a rip off that when you order from the shop directly attached to them they charge you $27cad for preparation without advising you. TOTALLY DECEITFUL AND UNPROFESSIONAL. Would not recommend this restaurant at all, service mediocre, overly priced, and food average.

They have best seafood ever , I enjoyed the food and services great place to visit in montreal, I do it all the time I visit montreal

My favorite restaurant in montreal, they have the best sea food in montreal, I notice lots of changes in there food quality since I visit the same place last 19 years . Good to try

Went with the family for supper, had amazing meza"s as usual and delicious grilled and fried fish. The service is superb; they constantly change your plates, service with a smile, very clean place and always good quality food. It's one of the best Montreal restaurant's; thank you for everybody working there!

We enjoy this restaurant when we visit Montreal. Seafood is very fresh and well prepared. My only criticism is why are you serving me pita in a bag from the grocery store and the hummus seems to have become very bland tasting. Presentation is important when serving a meal. I hope they change little things because they matter too! But food is good!
