Contribuiți la feedbackWent for Lunch with my parents. It's like entering a different time zone! Fantastic bit of traditional Portugal within 2 rooms. Food wise, went for Vitela a Lafoes, that I never tried before. Melt in your mouth meat, perfectly seasoned and the potatoes cooked on the same pot! Just mouth watering! If you are staying around the area visit and you won't regret it.
Great food with great attendance. The cod fish and the veal were impeccable. Remember to order wine, aquavite and the house soup ‘caldo de lavrador’. Seu Siqueira, congratulations.
Nowhere else I find a restaurant, where soup is still served in an old iron pan ... but main courses also use local products and cooked like no other this is the region of vitela de lafões a very tender and delicious meat wine range is great and the atmosphere is just fantastic ... suriunded by antiques and if you’re lucky, you can even sit next to fireplace
We wanted to go here for lunch with my brother and his wife in 2015...but we arrived mid afternoon too late for lunch. Finally in April last year 2016 we arrived there....for lunch. Not easy to find but we did and the owners had changed a few months before. We had heard about it's reputation under the old owner so we were hoping that it would still be good......it was fabulous !! Not much from the outside, but inside, all old stone and the small dining room with open burning fireplace....perfect on what was a miserable rainy day. This place is so cosy and welcoming as were the new owners to whom I promised to write a review and I am afraid that I am nearly one year late in doing so. And our lunch.....a bottle of local Tinto (red wine) or was it two , superb and cheapish.....food....the three of us all chose different dishes, then you can all try each others food..all three dishes were more than exceptional, enormous servings, so you had better be hungry....desserts delicious. Bill very reasonable. Just writing this review, Claire and I are dreaming of returning to Cambra, shame that they do not have rooms because personally I would stay here for at least 2 days to enjoy the food. This is a cosy cocoon of a small family run restaurant with the best meat based Portuguese regional cooking......be aware that in Portugal the meat is much better in the north than elsewhere......go here and open your eyes to a wonderful relaxed eating experience. I want to go back tomorrow...in 2 weeks I think ! Many thanks Lavrador and sorry to be late with the review, you deserve all the best.
This is one of the places where you can choose from the menu with your eyes closed. Everything I have tasted here is just delicious and I have tasted almost all menu. My personal suggestion is to go on winter for dinner to enjoy the fireworks, good food and of course a good wine.
