Contribuiți la feedbackLa Esperanza has the BEST carnitas in the whole Sacramento area in my book. We have been going here for many years, they are our to go spot for family gathering because they not only have the best food but their party trays are amazing and they feed a lot of people and their prices are super affordable. They also have a bakery that sells fresh out the oven bake goods. You 've got to try it.
Decent food for the cost. Long lines that start early. We usually get the menudo on the weekends. Very good and not full of hominy. You can't beat the price. They sell out early on the weekends. The tamales are a little smaller than they used to be, but still good. I wish they had street tacos, instead of the taco bell type with lettuce and cheese, but they are stuffed and good. The salsas are also tasty. Huge variety of bottled hot sauces and piñatas.
I ordered a bunch of food through grub hub because I wanted to try all they had to offer. Their chicken tacos are absolutely flavorless. The shredded chicken has no seasoning at all, not even salt. The asada taco is rubbery and chewy and has a very old flavor. The carnitas taco is sub par, especially if carnitas is one of their more popular items. The crispy potato tacos are decent, they have a lovely crisp, the sour cream and lettuce give them some freshness, but the potatoes on the inside have no flavor and are dry. The bean and cheese burrito was very good except for pockets of oil that was displeasing. I ordered a carnitas burrito as well, but I haven't tried it because everything was just meh. The up-sides to this place is that their red salsa is good and they are VERY cheap for good sized portions.
Without a doubt, La Esperanza is the best bang for your buck taco plate in Sacramento. They offer a variety of Mexican foods and drinks among the some of the best carnitas in the city. For roughly $8, you can get two loaded carnitas tacos, rice and beans. Make sure to come early if you're looking to try the taco plate as the carnitas meat option often sells out daily around 5/5:30PM. If you're unable to try the carnitas, make sure to pick up a dozen or half dozen tamales as they are flavorful and the masa is on point. Additionally, the staff at La Esperanza are typically pretty efficient and helpful despite sometimes having a language barrier. Make sure to try La Esperanza for some of the best carnitas tacos in Sacramento!
Salsa and gaucamole were good and fresh. The steak sope was huge and loaded with toppings. The tortillas were fresh and cooked well also filled with loads of meat. The red and green sauces and both good .
