La Casa De Los Alambres Mexico City Cuisine

While Alambres is in the name the 2 things you must come here for is this red/orange salsa that they only have a breakfast and their tacos de canasta. While the difference between Tacos al vapor and tacos de canasta seems to be the filling and origination, I feel for them in Mexico City and i've been searching for them ever since. This seems to be the only place that has them in San Diego let alone North County. Little steamed tacos with chicharrons or potatoes are light, refreshing, yet filling. If you find tacos al vapor they are generally cabeza filled and a little heavier, almost needing no garnish at all. So that breakfast salsa is a red variety, but it's more on the orange side. It's not heavy creme/mayo based, but different than what you'll find if you come for dinner, they seemed to not have it except for breakfast which made me initially think it was designed to go with the alambres, but the real move is to use it on the chilaquiles. Think vallartas, but with like a chili oil. Chilaquiles I know they seem like something you make better at home and i usually do, these are pretty good and more on the wet side which is how i like it. They never really last long enough for them to get too soggy despite the heavy saucing. They have an extensive menu, but most of the things they have under breakfast are normal items with egg. They also tend to go heavy on the crema for many items. Many places are so regionally based they would never carry so many items from different areas of Mexico, but they do everything very well. The fish burrito has rice which is odd. Other favorites of mine here are the huaraches and tlacoyos if your really hungry. The prices are decent and the service is very good.

My family and I come here a lot! The food is great! And let me tell you the salsa is something I dream about! Lol their creamy green salsa and chips is seriously so addicting. We often get carried away eating it that by the time we get our food, we are stuffed with chips and salsa. I could drink the salsa lol once you try it, you'll understand. Their sopes are good, enchiladas, and alambres: delishhhhh! Their mango chamoy slushy margarita is yummy too ! My parents went there for brunch one time and they loved it, I'm thinking of going with my bf one of these days:

I was craving a wet burrito and came here based on good reviews. They were not wrong. Delicious!!! Also had their Plantan for dessert, can't go wrong. Best ever!!

This little hole in the wall place is a jewel! We love the authentic food here, the service is top notch and it is nice and clean. Prices are reasonable and not overpriced like some of the chain Mexican restaurants. If you are in the area, stop by...you won 't be disappointed!!!

I am so glad I found this place! I did not expect to see a sit down restaurant in this location! I really like how the restaurant was set up. The décor was lovely and the bar looked great! They had plenty of seating. When I came here on a Sunday we were seated right away around 2pm. We were given chips and salsa and also could get other salsas at the salsa bar. They were all very good!! My husband and I got the enchilada plate and it was super yummy! I got the cheese with green sauce and I was for sure a fan! Their horchata was great too! I saw another table order margaritas which looked amazing! I am definitely getting one next time I come! Overall our experience was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. We also didn't wait too long to get our food. Plenty of parking, so no need to get here extra early to find a spot.
