Very welcoming restaurant with a lovely blend of Moroccan and French food Very good value wine list Superb Tagine
We arrived just after 10pm this evening, needing a meal on a holiday evening. We thought that we'd be eating pizza on a corner somewhere, or maybe a croquet monsieur, but the incredibly kind and gracious hosts at L'Olivier Rouge said, "4 people for dinner? Certainly." This is what we love about French small town cooking: it is scrumptious and first rate even at the end of a long night when everyone else is closing. Our hosts here were gracious and lovely and welcoming. They sat us in their courtyard by the old olive tree and served us a great wine, accompanied by wonderful olives and tapenade. We rolled into lamb and chicken and delicately spiced meatballs and couscous--all sorts of North African subtlety that was at once French and also tasted of Tangiers. Our daughter ordered a smashing chocolate mousse, and we finished the evening with mint tea that I'll fall asleep thinking about--the meal was that homey and good. Don't hesitate to try L'Olivier Rouge. Kim and his wife are everything they are cracked up to be.
Charming patron and patronne who bring style and good food to this central location. A goats cheese and grapefruit salad was fresh, utterly delicious and beautifully played out. There was however a general lack of understanding as to the importance of one salad being gluten free for a diner with coeliac disease but the situation was remedied with grace and charm.
Staying in Avignon we were told this restaurant was very good and it was. It had a nice décor, the staff were pleasant and food was a treat. Thank You
