The minute we walked in, the place smelled of cigarette smoke. Sat at a table hoping to get a bite to eat, but just couldn't stand the smell. Awful!
Came here last Friday for drinks and had some suuuuper yummy loaded fries and nachos to share. The staff is super nice and my friends say they've been here dozens of times and always loved it. Service: Dine in Meal type: Other Price per person: $10–20
The max and cheese is amazing. Every time o come back, I always wind up getting it again. The atmosphere is very laid back and not rowdy and the walls feature rotating artists. A great little hole in the wall that's not a loud bar. I love it.
It is clear that this establishment has a certain image that they want to cater to and let alone serve at that. You’re basically only welcomed here if you’re dressed a certain way, look a certain way and act a certain way. A small group of my VERY well over the legal drinking age friend group came here to enjoy some food after we enjoyed a fun afternoon for the Irish festivity that took place on Main Street. I grew up in Farmingdale and have eaten and enjoyed drinks at The Republic for many years! Always was great bar food and grub so I thought it was a good suggestion! I was SO embarrassed for the recommendation I had made to my friends. Initially, the bouncer made a comment about “not wanting drunk people inside.” We laughed it off as we know their location is in the heart of Main Street where I’m sure he’s seen a lot of “drunk people” before and let us inside. The entire staff inside was extremely rude, judgmental, rolling their eyes, and even refused service! Menus, table settings and silverware were flung toward our way with no regard or a hello or a welcome? Is it because we wore green and participated in a St. Patrick’s day event that we were treated this way? I understand The Republic did not participate in the Irish crawl festivity, however, they were still openshould have closed if they did not want business that day. We were willing to pay for a meal! Find it funny that Google refers to The Republic as an “Irish Pub”, however, this place profiles people who are Irish as drunks and will refuse to serve you such as! Business was better well spent down the block!
