We were well served by the owner Manuel, who in his best English, Spanish and French explained his cuisine made from fresh local ingredients. He served his own olives and olive oil. Everyone was very happy with their dishes includng the bachalau, veal, pork, gazpatcho(made from scratch), sheeps cheeese with honey and almonds. We were offered samples of local white and red wines, both were lovely and reasonably priced. A great evening was had by all.
Sr Manuel Camarinhas has set up a unique restaurant, where the food and wine is all local and the recipes are the ones handed down in his family over the generations. Seven tables, some family size, is all there is, so be sure to book. Three of us tried several dishes and were treated to some genuine delicious Alentejo food with the touch of Vila Viçosa. Sr Camarinhas also made a point of giving us several wines to taste, all from vineyards in the region, none available commercially. We could not decide on dessert, no problem, Sr Camarinhas put a generous sample-size of each one of the three available on the table. Overall, a great experience on a sleepy summer afternoon, and our only regret was not having a nice shade and day bed to sleep off the afternoon.
Super friendly staff with good regional food. Good local wine too. Very child friendly (although no nappy changer available).
Definitivamente um lugar para voltar. muito saboroso bem servido, com uma sobremesa que deu a dois. com muita simpatia para a mistura
