O Cangalho - Vila do Conde

Had plenty of free tables but said that they don’t have room for us (because we are tourist). Sad because it was a nice place…

If you stay in Vila do Conde you should not miss this restaurant. Service excellent, staff taking time to explain choices and recommend (we wanted to try everything but that wasn't possible) Food unbelievable taste and value. My husband and I had the tapas but by about the third one we were envious of those beside us getting the fresh fish options food envy was real!!! The bottle of wine suggested for us was delicious and excellently selected. We would have gone back if we had discovered this restaurant on time before leaving. Also try the desserts this was one of the few restaurants we did do so rather than opt for a walk and gelato. We were glad we did (we tried three). (I know all worth it). Memorable mentions the mushrooms, vegetable crepes, prawns in potato, Padron peppers, codfish fritters. All amazing. And finally the bill very very good value.

We ate in several restaurants in Vila de Conde and this one was the best. Delicious food, extremely friendly staff (one family) , tiny and familiar atmosphere.

We were two adults and two children, and the good experience started right from the reservation phone call. Very friendly staff and good service. My dish was really tasty and everything was good, but the only reason I 'm giving 4 stars is because of what my family was having pataniscas de bacalhau this was served with a tommato rice that was cooked with tommato pulp and not as elaborated as my food for instance; as this is a very typical dish in Portugal I found it too expensive. It was just the first time there and I 'm sure that other dishes are much better looking at the other tables. For sure I 'll give this restaurant another opportunity to try other items from the menu and I recommend this restaurant for the complete experience.

This is an absolutely great restaurant. Seafood is so fresh. Staff is amazing.
