This fledgling venture is a combined shop, cafe, bar and restaurant (using local suppliers) that has opened in the village. It is a multiservice offering that sells groceries (with an accompanying delivery service), has an onsite brewery which is a little different, and operates a restaurant at lunchtimes (except Wednesdays) and Saturday evenings. I went there recently for a goodbye lunch for some friends. Located on a corner site, one of the adjoining roads is quite steep but it is nice to see that in front as well as a small outside seating area there is a ramp to facilitate access by those with reduced mobility. Inside it is just one room with a shop counter on the left in front of shelves with basic provisions and there is a small bar/cafe to your front with seating off to the right. Our meal was quite straightforward, a Charcuterie plate was offered to start. The main was fish in breadcrumbs and chips, although I suspect from the look and texture that this had been bought in rather than made on the premises. However any concerns about the dessert were dispelled when the Isle Flotante appeared which was certainly home made, with a large meringue sitting atop a very vanillery crème anglaise. The house wine was certainly palatable enough and the serving was cheerful and efficient. I think our booking was certainly a go.od test of their timing, portion control and overall cooking and serving abilities, an encouraging start I wish them well but their success will depend on signage, advertising and word of mouth as it is nowhere near the main road and passers by would have no reason to divert through this part of Vignols and thus it would be un-noticed.
